Kids Saving the Rainforest
Description
Kids Saving the Rainforest mission is to protect the diverse wildlife of Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast with our conservation projects which include the Wildlife sanctuary, where we give sanctuary to animals that we rescue and can't be released back into the wild due to permanent injuries. We thrive to give the best care to KSTR´s animals, working together with staff and volunteers to daily provide the best nutrition, enrichment, medical care and good husbandry conditions. We work hard to make their enclosures and enrichments as close as to what they would get in their habitat. We take very seriously working in according to animal welfare guidelines as well as working withing the law of Costa Rica. We do not allow animal contact with wildlife, animal selfies, and respect the animal´s space and needs depending on their behavior to cause the less stress possible. We have a team of professionals to make sure we have the resources needed to provide the best care. We have professionals in the field of biology, veterinary technicians, wildlife veterinarian, behaviorists, zoologists and have trained our staff to care for wildlife. All our staff are passionate about taking care of wildlife and have the same values about animal welfare and all have the same goal for wildlife conservation. With our education program we give educational tours of our sanctuary as well as having different educational programs for the local and international community on conservation, working with local schools and local conservation projects. We also support and participate in research projects with local and international universities, researchers and students. We implement projects to protect the wildlife in the community by mitigating the major threats of wildlife in the region. We do this with our wildlife bridge program and our reforestation program. KSTR has been working for 23 years to protect the diverse wildlife of flora and fauna in Costa Rica’s Pacific Coast with our conservation projects. Our reforestation program helps companies and individuals offset their carbon footprint by planting trees. The trees planted are monitored over the long term to ensure their preservation.
